Carolyn Grettler

May 24, 1938 — February 6, 2022

Carolyn Grettler, age 83, of Girard, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022 at St. Vincent Health Center.

She was born May 24, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late Wasal Hlusko and Caroline Prostek Hlusko.

She was a 1956 graduate of Fairview High School.  Carolyn had worked for Lake Shore Country Club as secretary and then worked at Pleasant Ridge Manor for over 16 years in the kitchen until her retirement. 

Carolyn had been member of Girard United Methodist Church and the Girard American Legion.  She loved dancing, playing cards, reading and visiting with her many friends and family.  She was an avid sports and dance fan.  She attended as many baseball, lacrosse, soccer and basketball games that she could for her children and grandchildren, as well as their gymnastics competitions and dance recitals.  Her family meant the world to her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Grettler, whom she married May 26, 1962. Her two sisters, Dorothy (Pat) Trella and Ann (George) Nejak; a brother, John (Rose) Hlusko; and nephews, Anthony, George, Michael, Joseph and Bruce; as well as a daughter-in-law, Melissa Grettler.

She is survived by: three sons, Steven (Cyndi) Grettler, Robert Grettler, Matthew (Pam) Grettler; a daughter, Laura (Dan) McQuillen; eight fantastic grandchildren, Dalton (Amanda), Gabriel, Gage, Peyton, Madelyn, Ryan, Mason, Raymond, three beautiful great grandchildren, Ayden, Alora and Koda and many wonderful nieces and nephews; as well as her many friends that were like family.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard, PA 16417 on Friday, 2/11/2022 from 3:00pm until the time of service at 6:30pm.
