Carolyn Fischer Bauman, age 63, of Erie, PA passed away peacefully on November 17, 2022 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Erie on December 17, 1958, a daughter of the late H. Robert and Nancy (Potter) Fischer.
She is survived by her loving husband John, sons Douglas (Anne), Bill (Jessica), Andrew (Julie), and Daniel, grandchildren Michael, Jack, Liam, and Grace, brothers Robert Fischer (Laura), Richard Fischer, Jim Fischer, sister Lynn McCullough (Michael), and many nieces and nephews.
Growing up in Frontier, Carolyn attended Erie Day school. After graduating from Villa Maria Academy in 1976, Carolyn completed her education at Penn State University (University Park), class of 1981, with a degree in Marketing. She worked at AMSCO in the sales and marketing department. Despite her early success in business, she had a greater calling as a mother. Carolyn gave her all to raising her sons.
A beautiful woman, Carolyn was present at every one of her sons’ academic and athletic events. She traveled the country to support her boys competing in swimming and water polo, always the first hug after any victory or defeat. She coached the St. Peter’s tennis team for many years and was always a Team Mom. She loved her time with her grandkids, both at their games in Erie and making trips to Chicago. In her few moments to herself, Carolyn enjoyed competitive tennis at Lakeshore and Westwood, boating with John and friends on Lake Erie, mastering Pilates, or winning backgammon and dominoes games on a remote beach in St. Croix. Carolyn was whip-smart, completing the Sunday crossword puzzle with ease, always the first to shout out a Jeopardy answer, and a master of proper grammar.
Carolyn was quick to help others, making many lifelong friends. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and kind friend to all that had the privilege to know her. She will be forever missed by her family and all those who loved her.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, 3801 W. 26th Street on Monday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Carolyn requested friends wear bright colors during calling hours.
Friends are invited to the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, November 22nd at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick RC Church. Burial will follow at Erie Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the A.N.N.A. Shelter 1555 East 10th Street Erie, PA 16511, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania 1507 Grimm Drive Erie, PA 16501, or the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research www.lustgarten.org.
