Carollyn Jean Falcone, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother to be passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 4, 2016 at UPMC Hamot surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 11, 1936 in Union City, PA. A longtime resident of Erie, she had owned and operated Carollyn’s Homemade Ice Cream shop in the Burton Plaza. Prior to opening her business, she travelled to Penn State to learn ice cream making at the Creamery. Carollyn also enjoyed china painting and at one time served as president of the PA State China Painter’s Association.
Carollyn also worked alongside her son John at his business, City Garden Center in Conneaut, OH. She loved the color purple and butterflies.
Carollyn is survived by her husband, the Hon. John R. Falcone; a daughter Shawn Marie Gorring and her husband Scott of Erie and two sons, John R. Falcone II and his wife Mary of Conneaut, OH and Robert G. Falcone and his wife Susan of Clermont, FL. She is the sister of Maxanne Cerce of Ocala, FL. and also survived by six grandchildren whom she loved like no other; Emily and Abigail Falcone, Scotty Gorring, Casey DiGange and her husband Todd, Robert R.J. Falcone and Neal Miller.
Carollyn also had some amazing people around her! Including Margherita Agglund, Carol and Bill Brown, Sherri Brown and Joe Day, Her breakfast gang, Carolyn and Albert Dimatio, Ruth Waidley, Jay Cimino, Dick and Cheryle Yannitello, Bonnie Flynn and family, Jim and Jackie Falcone, Carren Cerami, Christine Capotis and family, Dave and Roberta Gorring, Jim and Sally Morgan and many many more wonderful friends and family.
Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, 728 West 9th St. on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and are invited to attend Funeral Services there Saturday at 12:00 noon. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Erie Community Foundation, 459 W.6th St., Erie, PA 16501.
