Caroline Kensill

August 18, 1918 — December 8, 2013

Caroline E. "Carrie" Fullerton Kensill, 95, of Erie, died Sun., Dec. 8, 2013 at the Village at Luther Square. Formerly of Mid City Towers. She was born Aug. 18, 1918 in Erie, daughter of the late Pierce L. and Grace Smith Fullerton. A lifelong resident of Erie, she attended Academy High School and worked for the Boston Store and for Voss Food Market on State St. Mrs. Kensill was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Fort LeBoeuf Chapter, and Millcreek Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She served as a foster grandmother at Sarah Reed Children's Center for 27 years and enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting.
    
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard W. Kensill in 1966; three sisters, Edna and Doris Clausen and Lillian Carillo; and a brother, Robert Fullerton.
 
Survivors include three daughters, Carol King and husband Donald of Summit Twp., Loretta Lehman and husband Arthur of West Springfield, PA, and Kathryn Kensill of Erie; two sons, William Kensill and Harvey Kensill and wife Evelyn, all of Erie; seven grandchildren, Melanie Ditzel and husband Daniel, Melissa Kensill, and Stefan and Alan Lehman, all of Erie, Wendy Heberlein and husband Trevor of North East, Heather Kensill of Harborcreek, and Arthur Lehman of West Springfield; four great-grandsons, Jakob and Hunter Ditzel of Erie and Hudson and Wyatt Heberlein of North East; and several nieces and nephews.
 
Friends may call Wednesday 3 to 6 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St. A service will be held there Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. William G. Cox, Chaplain of the Village at Luther Square, officiating. Private burial will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sarah A. Reed Children's Center, 2445 W. 34th St., Erie, PA 16506; or to Keasarge Food Pantry, 5312 Peach St., Erie, PA 16509.
