Carol Woolley

August 28, 1938 — June 28, 2021

Carol Sue (Cox) Woolley, 82, of Erie, Pennsylvania, formerly of Rhode Island, passed away at home with her family by her side on June 28, 2021.

Carol was born on August 28, 1938, in Bellevue, Ohio, the daughter of the late James and Gladys (Collins) Cox. Carol is survived by her beloved husband, Frederick A. Woolley, to whom she was married for 63 years; brother, James Cox, of Ohio; her five children, Kim Tahan, of Warwick, RI, Linda Woolley, of North Providence, RI, Lori DeAngelis, of Erie, PA, John Woolley, of Johnston, RI, and Karen Henault, of North Carolina; 16 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, whom she adored.

Carol, a high school majorette, graduated from Academy High School, Erie, PA, in 1957, and married her Navy husband the following year, on May 3, 1958. Carol was a naturally beautiful and stunning young woman and while working at the Boston Store she was discovered and chosen to be Erie’s “Beauty of the Day.”  Carol was known for her great sense of humor and her contagious smile. Carol’s best memories were with her family.

Although her greatest job was being a mother, Carol worked in her younger years as a car-hop and in retail, and later joined her husband as office manager in his tool and die business, Mold Craft Ltd., for many years. Carol enjoyed bowling, cooking, and playing cards, but most of all she just enjoyed spending time with her large family.

Upon her illness, Carol was comforted in knowing she would be cared for at home. The family is forever grateful to Carol’s daughter, Lori DeAngelis and great-granddaughter, Aaliyah DeAngelis for their assistance in helping to provide such loving and selfless care over the last several months, together with the skilled medical care she received around the clock from her dedicated and adoring granddaughter, Lauren DeAngelis, LPN.

The family also wishes to extend their sincere thanks to AseraCare Home Hospice nurses, Michelle and Breanna, who provided both compassionate care to the family and exemplary comfort care to Carol in her final days.

At her request, no services will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services, Downtown, 602 W. 10th St, Erie, PA 16502.
