Carol Ann (Condon) Schonthaler, age 78 of Erie, Pa, passed away on January 13, 2025 at UPMC Hamot Hospital. Carol was born in Erie on November 27, 1946, the fifth child of William J. Condon Sr. and Ruth (Lynch) Condon. Carol was a graduate of McDowell High School and Erie Commercial College. After graduation, she worked as a secretary in the Trust Department of the First National Bank. She also worked at the Moniuszko Singing Society and gave 31 years of devoted service to the East Erie Turners. She was a member of the Siebenbuerger Ladies Auxiliary and St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church.
Carol married John K. Schonthaler Jr. on October 1, 1966. She was a stay-at-home mom while raising her two children. Throughout her life, Carol traveled extensively with her sisters. Her favorite vacations were her trips to Disney World. Carol had a talent for management, and she organized parties for festive occasions for her family and others. She always made everyone she met feel special and loved. Her role as a grandma filled her with pride, and her grandchildren will carry the memories she created with them forever.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. William Condon Jr., her sister-in-law, Kathryn Condon, her sisters Susan Goff and Mary Condon, and her brother-in-law Richard Goff.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John K. Schonthaler Jr., her son John (Renee) Schonthaler and her daughter, Lynda (David) Andrzejewski, her granddaughters; Kayla Schonthaler, Christa Schonthaler, Miranda (Stephen) Jurrissen, Alesha Schonthaler, and Haley Andrzejewski; her grandsons, Alex Andrzejewski and Erik (Jaymie) Andrzejewski, and her great- granddaughter, Joslin.
Also surviving are her siblings, Dr. Dennis Condon and Cathleen Young, her brother-in-law Robert Schonthaler, sisters-in-law Kathy Murzynski and MaryJo (Eugene) Snyder, as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 2801 W.6th St. on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at which time a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
