Carol Orlando

Carol Welch Witherow Orlando, age 85, formerly of St. Joseph Apartments, passed away peacefully at Elmwood Gardens on Thursday, July 16, 2015.

She was born in Ossipee, NH on November 8, 1929, a daughter of the late Edwin and Sylvia Bickford Welch.

She graduated from Quimby High School in Sandwich, NH, then moved to Connecticut and worked for an Insurance Company before moving to Pennsylvania in 1952.

She was a nurse’s aid for many years and also a homemaker.

She was a member of Delaware Avenue Baptist Church.

She enjoyed reading, playing cards and was an avid bocce player.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Herbert E. Witherow, her second husband Joseph L. Orlando, and her son John Witherow, December 21, 2013. She was also preceded in death by a brother James Welch and her foster parents, Maybeth and Otis Cook.

She is survived by a brother John Welch of Sandwich, NH; a sister Terry Morton, of Berlin, NH; three daughters, Shirley Russell of Erie, Sherry Donnelly of Erie and Julie Leone and her husband Dominic. Further survived by five grandchildren: Franki, Holli, BJ, Erin and Darcy, many great grandchildren all of Erie, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street, Monday from 2 to 4 pm, and 6 pm until the time of service at 8 pm.
