Carol Dietz Mando, age 84, of Erie, a woman of grace, unwavering faith and great love passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 surrounded by family after an extended illness. She was born in Erie, daughter of the late Herbert and Mary Scully Dietz on December 19, 1933.
After raising her children at Our Lady of Peace Parish and school, Carol became involved in the Charismatic Renewal and Word of Life Center. She was the secretary at the House of Praise, a longtime member and employee of St. Joseph Church, Bread of Life Community and associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph. She also worked the polls on election days for many years in Millcreek.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph on January 1, 1984 whom she married at St. Ann’s Church on April 11, 1953. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Jean Totleben and two brothers, Charles and Robert Dietz.
Carol is survived by her children, Cheryl (John) Belleau, Ellen (Rob) Shearer, Cathy (Ray) Acosta, Angela (Bryan) Brooks, Mary Mando (Bill Dudenhoefer), Joseph Mando (Deb Horwath) and Sue (Louie) Bizzarro, twenty grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Nancy Gittere, Mary Ann Gardner, two brothers, Art Dietz and Bill Dietz and many nieces and nephews further survive.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Avenue,) today, Tuesday, May 1st, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Church on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 2 p.m.
Burial will be private.
Memorials may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph Mission and Ministry Foundation, 5031 West Ridge Road Erie, Pennsylvania 16506.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Aunt Nancy, Lydia Innocenzi, Michelle Bessetti and the Asera Care Hospice Team.
