Carl Milton Servey, age 87, of Erie, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Walnut Creek Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Clarion, PA on October 11, 1930, a son of the late, Harry Bud “HB” and Irene Clark Servey.
Carl graduated from Clarion High School in 1948. He went on to attend Clarion State University and graduated from there after earning several Master’s Degrees. Carl served in the United State Air Force from June of 1952 until June of 1956.
Following his time in the service, he was a Chemistry and Physics Teacher for more than 35 years in the Girard and Fairview School Districts. Carl loved travelling and especially enjoyed getting away from winter in his RV. He took several Alaskan Cruises and took a cruise through the Panama Canal. He also travelled through the US and Europe extensively. Carl was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by two sisters, Ardella and Hazeldeen and two brothers, Samuel and James.
Carl is survived by his daughter, Deborah Servey of Erie, a brother, Paul Servey of Shippenville, PA, two sisters, Virginia Righi of London, TN and Edna McDonald, of Cheyenne, WY and a dear friend, Betty Pelletier of Erie; a brother in law, Vern McKissick and his wife Janet of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Avenue,) on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2115 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16508.
