Calvin Mehnert Henry, age 89, of Wattsburg and Sun City West, Arizona passed away Saturday August 30, 2014 in Arizona.
He was born November 18, 1924, son of the late Robert H. and Cora M. Lander Henry. Calvin attended Brookside grade school, graduated from Harborcreek High School and was a lifetime dairy farmer in Wattsburg. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Green Township and the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West, DHIA, Registered Holsteins of America, a director of Milk, Inc. and a director of the Erie Crawford Co-op.
Calvin spent much time working on family history, studying genealogy and traveling extensively. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas and two brothers, Louis and Richard.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Elizabeth Herrmann Henry; a daughter Sherry Lynn Runser and her husband Howard of Texas and two sons Brian Henry and his wife Georgina of North East and Robert Henry of Union City. He is further survived by 11 grandchildren; Kim, Tom, Danny, Steve, Pat, Kevin, Laura, Phillip, Jason, Chris and Emily; fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister Leona Nesgoda and her husband John of Erie; best friends Richard and Dorothy Brown and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home 2532 Norcross Road (across from the entrance to Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery) on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and are invited to the service there on Saturday at 11:00 am with Reverend Kenneth Laber officiating.
Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
