Bruce Johnson

Bruce D. Johnson age 71, of Millcreek, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Erie on April 11, 1945, a son of the late Phillip and Leona Olson Johnson.

He graduated from Jamestown High School and served in the United States Army. Bruce received his Bachelor’s Degree from Allegheny College and his DMD from Pitt University School of Dental Medicine.

In addition to his family, his practice and the relationships he built with his patients over 41 years was the great joy of his life. Bruce owned and operated Bruce D. Johnson, DMD, PC Family Dentistry from 1973 - 2014.

Bruce was a loving husband and father. He was a member of the Erie Yacht Club, American Dental Association and past officer of the Erie Dental Association. He enjoyed fishing and boating and was a season ticket holder for the Erie Philharmonic and Erie Playhouse. He loved to travel. He was an avid fan of all Pittsburgh sport franchises, including the Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, and Pitt Panthers. He loved his dogs and his parrot Peaches.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Judith A. Bocianowski Johnson in 2010.

He is survived by a daughter, Dawn M. Johnson and her husband Timothy C. Sheahan of Akron, OH; two sisters in law, Beverly Sutton and her husband Ronald of Erie, and Michelle Connor of Erie; a brother in law, Mike Bocianowski, a niece Bridgette Zeibak, and her husband Lyon of Pittsburgh; and a nephew Ryan Connor of Erie.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th St. Erie on Sunday from 1 to 4pm. and on Tuesday from 12noon until the time of service at 1pm. with Rev. Carl Hull officiating. Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery will follow with full Military Honors.
