Brian McKean was born on March 8, 1949 and passed away at Hamot Hospital on December 6, 2022 with his wife Linda at his side. Waiting in heaven to welcome Brian are his parents, Boyd and Marian McKean; step-mother, Helen McKean; brothers, Jack and David McKean; and “honorary brother” and partner in crime, John Dickey.
Brian graduated in 1967 from Fairview High School and from Baldwin Wallace College in 1971. He devoted his career to Titan Tool Company, the business founded by his grandfather over 100 years ago. Brian retired in 2020 as President and CEO, after over 45 years with the company. During his career, Titan grew from a small domestic company to a company with representatives and sales through the world. He was an exceptional employer, respected and loved for his ability, fairness, and extraordinary compassion and generosity. As important as Titan Tool was to Brian, it couldn’t compare to the love he had for his family. He and Linda had a wonderful marriage. He was the best father Mike and Kevin could ever imagine, supporting them wholeheartedly in all their endeavors and dreams. Brian also enjoyed golf, dining out with family and friends, vacations at Hilton Head and across the country with his family, and taking cruises with Linda and friends.
Brian will be loved and remembered always by his cherished wife and best friend of 53 years, Linda; his beloved sons, Michael and Kevin; special daughters-in-law, Nicole and Molly; and adored granddaughters, Jordan and Madden. In addition, Brian is survived by his much loved brother and sister, Edwin McKean and Nancy Dickey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews each of whom meant the world to him. Brian is also survived by friend and brother-in-law Jim Carlysle. In addition to his family, Brian is survived by his closest friend and college roommate Hawk (Tim) Kirkpatrick and his wife Luann; his long time friend Bill Heath (Alexa); and dear friends, Martha and Harry Sinden and Bob and Cherri Melani.
Linda and Brian’s family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Seastone, Dr. Klinge, and Dr. Maciak who supported him and Linda with skill and compassion during his long fight with cancer. In addition, we want to thank the nurses (especially Erika, Brittany, Kim, Kristen, Maryann, Joanna and Kayla) and aides (Shatorya, Sheila, and Ayanna) who gave so much caring and support in Brian’s final days.
The family will receive condolences at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th. St, Erie, PA 16506 from, 11:00 on Saturday, December 10 until the funeral service beginning at noon.
