Bonnie Atkinson

Bonnie Lou Atkinson, 89 of Erie, PA passed away on June 25, 2017.  She was born on September 1, 1927 in Houston, MS, the third daughter of the late Hugh and Nettie Buchanan Crockett.  Bonnie was a resident of Erie, PA since 1944.  She was a wonderful mother who spent most of her life raising her family and lovingly caring for her grandchildren.  She also managed rental properties into her early seventies.  Her hobbies consisted of crocheting, quilting and baking, one of many, family favorites, was her famous German Chocolate Cake.  Bonnie loved spending hours in the garden cultivating her beautiful plants and flowers.  She was a member of the Bayview and Pineview Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 55 years.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters Geneva Copeland, Hughnette Crockett, Lois Lyles, a brother, Eddie Dean Crockett and a great grandson Darren Jason Atkinson.

She is survived by her daughter, Hazel Green (David) and her three sons, Charles (Peggy), Harold and Barney “Richard,”  two sisters; Doris Neal of Houston, MS and Barbara Hinton of Tucson, AZ; two brothers, Ellis Crockett of Houston, MS and Charles “Joe” Crockett of Erie, PA.  She is further survived by her eleven grandchildren, Edward, Lisa, Charmayne, Joe, Selena, Darren, Chanel, David, Justin, Preston, Tara and 15 great grandchildren.

Yes, our mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend will certainly be missed.  We can rest assured that the hope she believed in will come to be.  The resurrection that Jesus promised will be fulfilled surely and truly.  (1 John 5:28-29.)
