Betty Holbert

June 4, 1919 — March 12, 2014

     Betty Lindgren Holbert, 94, formerly of East Lake Road, died Wed., March 12, 2014 at Abington Crest Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  She was born June 4, 1919 in Erie, daughter of the late Elmer and Ellen Bjorkman Lindgren.  A lifelong resident of Erie, Betty was a 1937 graduate of East high School and graduated from New York Institute of Dietetics.  She worked in the Dietary Department of the Village at Lutheran Square and in the Dietary/Food Department of Kresge's Department Store.  She was a member of Luther Memorial Church and the former Bethany Lutheran Church.  For over 25 years Betty volunteered as a Foster Grandmother at the Barber National Institute. 
     She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Holbert, in 1963; a daughter, Linda Adams; a sister, Ruth M. Lindgren; and a granddaughter, Michelle Henderson.
     Survivors include a son, Jon B. Holbert and wife Patricia of Wesleyville; a daughter, Barbara Chrispen and husband Norman of Erie; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
     Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St., Sunday 2 to 6 p.m. A service will be held at the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Coleman of Luther Memorial Church officiating.  Burial will be at Erie Cemetery.
