Betty Heitzenrater

Betty Heitzenrater age 73, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at UPMC Hamot following a brief illness.

She was born in Erie on September 10, 1941 a daughter of the late Samuel and Josephine Royce Thomas.

Betty graduated from Tech High School. She had been a cashier for Max Toy World.

She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary at the Siebenbuerger Club. Betty loved fishing, traveling, camping, and reading. She especially loved her animals.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Giacobello.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Edward R. Heitzenrater Sr.; two daughters, Ginger Ames and her husband Neal of Erie and Melody Weaver Bisbee and her husband Robert of Erie; a son, Edward R. Heitzenrater Jr. and his wife Heather of Erie; five grandchildren, Jessica and her husband David, Brandi and her fiancé Trevor, Nicole, Nathaniel and Matthew; four great grandchildren, Morganna, Layla, Hayden, and Sterling; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Tuesday from 2 to 4p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at 8:00p.m.
