Betty L. Fairchild

Betty L. Fairchild, age 89, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday March 6, 2024.  

She was born in Girard, OH on June 26, 1934, a daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy (Higgins) Laase.

She attended Strong Vincent High School and studied criminal justice and psychology at Mercyhurst College.   She worked for the American Red Cross during Operation Desert Storm, retiring in 1996 after 10 years.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by twin brothers at birth, Edward and Frankie; and her four sisters Shirley Kikola, Margaret Wasser, Ruth Sheldon, and Joyce Hetzel; and her daughter-in-law Kim Fairchild.

Survivors include three children Shelly Rossey of Millcreek, Jeffrey Fairchild of E. Springfield and Lisa Steele and husband Gary of Crystal River, Fl; grandchildren Melissa Sanders and husband Adam, Gregory Rekitt and wife Trisha, Ashley McCormack and husband Matt, John Clinger and wife Rebecca, and Shain and Corrie Fairchild; great grandchildren, Staff Sergeant Matthew Baker, Evan Baker, Branden, Ethan, Jaxon and Lilly Rekitt, Jace Clinger and Evelyn McCormack.

Arrangements entrusted to the Burton Funeral Home, Girard. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, the American Red Cross, or the charity of one’s choice.
