Barnetta Deboe

Barnetta Joanne Deboe, age 57, of Erie, transitioned on October 21, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Erie, PA on May 2, 1961, a daughter of the late Rev. George Tate, Jr. and Barbara Ann Deboe Tate.

Barnetta graduated from Academy High School in 1979.    She was a member of Miracle Temple Church of Erie.  She was an ordained minister and received several certificates of Patriotism for her love of her country.  Barnetta studied music and loved writing lyrics, which helped her become one of Erie’s finest vocalists.   She was an original member of the Breeze Band, and was also a member of Sky’s the Limit and One World Tribe.  She was a Diva when it came to dressing.

Barnetta held various jobs at Tickles Deli, in daycare and in music ministry.  In addition to singing, she read the Bible regularly, which inspired her to talk about God to all who would listen.  She enjoyed cooking and watching classic movies and above all, she loved being with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Laura Rochelle Bradley, her maternal grandparents, Virgie and Lewis Deboe, and her paternal grandparents, George Tate, Sr. and Aldonia Tate.

Barnetta is survived by her children, Chityka Richmond, Robert Richmond, Ramon Richmond, Lanani Ogden (Tony Hubbart), Shanada Ogden (Travaughn Roberts) and  Dijon Deboe; her siblings, George Tate, III (Terrika), Bryce Tate (Yvette Warner), Tammy Tate (Carlos Gamble), Sonnet McClellan (Bobby), Delvon M. Tate, Lytonia Battles, Roslyn Tate, James Tate, Peter Tate, and Deundra Dupree; five grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to call on the family on Saturday, October 27^th from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 Noon at Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church, 2624 German St., Erie, PA 16504.  Burial will follow at Erie Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 W. 10^th St.
