Barbara Thomas

Barbara Thomas, age 76, of Erie was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 following a long and courageous battle. She was born in Jacksonville, FL on October 28, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Reverends Ezekiel and Minnie Lockett Henry, Sr.

Mother Thomas graduated from High School in Jacksonville, Florida; while in Jacksonville she had worked at Saint Vincent Hospital and the Silver Star Lounge; upon moving to Erie she had worked for Saint Vincent Hospital, Continental Rubber, General Electric, Sam Jethroe’s and American Legion Post 700.

In addition to her parents Barbara was preceded in death by her husbands, Willie J. Thomas and James Lane; a son, Edgar Thomas and a grandson, Myron R. Thomas, Sr.; brothers, Larzie Johnson, Sr., James Henry and Donald Reed; two sisters, Gwen Fredrick and Annie Henry.

Barbara is survived by four daughters, Veronica A. Thomas, Deborah D. Thomas Clinton; both of Erie, Sharon J. Thomas Gore-Hogue (Robert Hogue) of Phoenix, AZ and Panchitta T. Robinson, Catonsville, MD; and two sons, Darrius Thomas, of Atlanta, GA and Kari Thomas, of Rochester, NY; her step-children, Lois Lane Thompson, David Lane both of Pensacola, FL, John Henry Lane, Martin Lane, Ruth Bridgett, Terry Steele, and Marie Taylor, all of Erie; 10 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren, cousins; nieces and nephews; a special niece, Pamela Ford, and a special nephew, Larzie Johnson, Jr. both of Jacksonville, FL.; two brothers, Ezekiel Henry, Jr (Mary) of Jacksonville, FL and Carl Reed (Connie), Waycross, GA and a sister, Lillie Johnson, of Panama City, FL.

Friends may call at Bread of Heaven Tabernacle of Praise; Pastor Henry Lumbus and Co-Pastor Evlyn Lumbus 1020 Napier Avenue, Lawrence Park, PA. Homegoing Service Saturday from 10:30 am until the time of service at 1p.m. with Pastor Weyman B. Stephens, Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Erie Cemetery.
