Barbara Moorhead

Wendy T. Moorhead age 72, of Millcreek, PA, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA. She was born October 7, 1941, in New York City, to Ruby and Edward William Tonkin. After the passing of Ruby, Wendy was lovingly mothered by Hazel Tonkin, Edward’s second wife. Edward and Hazel predeceased her.

Wendy earned a BA degree from Barnard College in New York City, a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree from Duke University, Durham, NC, and a Masters in Library Science (MLS) degree from Simmons College in Boston, MA. She retired in 2011 from Marshall University in Huntington, WV, where she served as director of circulation for the Marshall University Libraries.

She is survived by her husband John, of Millcreek, PA, her sister Charity Tonkin Haines, Charity’s husband, Richard of Charlottesville, VA, Charity’s two children, Ken Gorrell of Tilton, NH and Shannon Reid of Epsom, NH, her brother Edward Hobart Tonkin of Erie, PA, his wife Deborah and children Edward (Ted), Virginia (Ginny), and Collier. Ted and Virginia are teaching overseas, and Collier is a student at Collegiate Academy, Erie, PA.

Services will be held at a later date at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.
