Barbara N.(Burton) Keverline, age 95, of Erie and formerly of Bradford, PA passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Manchester Commons in Erie, PA.

She was born in Buffalo, NY on November 25, 1929, the daughter of the late James T. and Helen Lucile (Quirk) Burton.

Barbara graduated from St. Mary’s High School in South Bend, Indiana. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from The Catholic University in Washington, DC.

She worked as a registered nurse for over 25 years. She began her career at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, followed by St. Francis Hospital in Olean, NY, and spent the remaining years of her nursing career at Bradford Hospital until her retirement. She volunteered for the Red Cross as a home health aide instructor. Barbara and her husband, Richard, delivered for the Red Cross Meals on Wheels program for a number of years.

Barbara was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was devoted to her family. She was a lifelong member of St. Bernard’s Church, as well as a member of the Secular Franciscans. She dedicated her life to her faith and sharing her beliefs with family and friends.

Barbara had many interests to include reading, knitting, cooking, and watching old movies. She had an amazing knowledge of history and current events. She was the keeper of the family tree, sharing tales of the ancestors for hours and creating laughter around the kitchen table. She will always be remembered for her resilient spirit, positivity in the face of adversity, strength, determination, and courage. She led by example, always put others before herself, was generous to those in need, and embraced and enjoyed life to the very end.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, of 68 years who she had known since childhood, their son, Dennis Keverline, her brother, John Henry (Mary Anne) Burton and niece, Lucille Burton.

She is survived by four daughters, Kathleen Dailey (Thomas), JoAnn Clark (Jerry), Mary Jo Herock (Michael) and Margaret Shembeda (Brian); grandchildren, Shawn and Christopher Dailey, Kristie and Kevin Clark, Meghan, Kyle, Erin and Cara Herock and Madeline, Violet, and Scarlett Shembeda; two great grandsons, Callan and Griffin Dailey and niece Shirley Sears and nephew Gregory Burton.
