Barbara E. Critchfield Carlson, age 81, of Erie, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 at UPMC Hamot.
She was born June 14, 1932 in Rockwood, PA, daughter of the late Roy Russell and Daisey Pearl Zerfoss Critchfield.
Barbara graduated from East High School. She was a waitress for 15 years at the former Nicholson’s Restaurant on State Street. She retired in 2005 from Plastek Industries where she was a floor tender and operator for 30 years.
Barbara loved working and was a very social person. She enjoyed cooking, but most of all, she loved time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; a son, Jeffrey Carlson and a daughter, Rebecca Carlson; four sisters, Audrey Critchfield, Virginia Critchfield, Alverna “Peg” Graham, and her infant sister, Vivian Arlene Critchfield; and a brother, Clyde Critchfield.
She is survived by her children, Edward Lee and wife, Jane of Spartansburg, Debra R. Carlson, of Erie, Matt Carlson and his wife, Caralee of Erie; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Carlson of Erie; and a granddaughter who was raised as a daughter by Barbara, Sarah Beth Carlson of Florida; a brother, Dwight Critchfield and his wife, Elizabeth (Jo), of Erie; a sister-in-law, Dot Critchfield and a brother-in-law, Ken Graham. Eleven grandchildren, Clayton, Laura, Ehrin, Charmone, Travis, Shawn, Bob, Kellie, Cory, Sarah and Gunnar as well as fourteen great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to call at the Burton Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street, Thursday from 4:00 pm until the time of sharing at 7:00 pm.
Private burial at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the family in care of the Burton Funeral Home.
