Audrey Jean Burkhart

Audrey Jean Rummel Burkhart, age 95 formerly of Fairview, passed away at Elmwood Gardens on Saturday, September 16, 2023.  She was born in Johnstown, PA on June 18, 1928, a daughter of the late Virgil and Elva Rowland Rummel. 

After graduating high school, she devoted her life to her family.  For over 30 years she baked wedding cakes from her home. Audrey was very involved at Community United Church in Erie, serving as a Sunday school teacher and director of the Christian Education Program, affectionately earning the name “Miss Audrey’ by the children.  She and her late husband Kenneth enjoyed traveling and camping in their motor home for over 50 years.

In addition to her parents and husband Kenneth, Audrey was preceded in death by 2 daughters-in-law, Debra and Marie, grandson Steven Burkhart, and by her siblings Rick Sidor and Lovell Rodrigues. 

She is survived by her daughters, Maureen Simon (Barry Loepp), and Cheryl Dolan (Steve), and her sons, Dennis, Kenneth Jr. (Priscilla), and Larry Burkhart.  She is further survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her siblings, Vivian Layton, Mary Louise Wilson (Gene), Virgil Rummel, and Darrel Rummel. 

Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services at West Ridge 3801 West 26^th St., on Thursday, September 21st from 3:00 pm until the time of service at 5:00 pm with Pastor Ed Huntley of Federated Church of East Springfield officiating.. Burial will be private at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
