Arthur E. Sardini age 81, of Erie, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital with his beloved wife by his side.
He was born in Erie on October 8, 1932, son of the late Arthur E. Sardini and Amelia Battaglia.
Arthur graduated from Cathedral Prep High School and went on to work in management for Hammermill Paper which became International Paper.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church where he was an active member of the Ushers Society.
Arthur enjoyed golf, bocce, fishing, playing pool and a good competitive game of cards. The most important thing to him was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Art’s faith was tested many times in life as he was stricken with multiple illnesses, but his faith remained strong, especially with his beloved wife and caretaker by his side. His family takes comfort in knowing that in the Kingdom of God, there will be no sickness or sorrow or sighing, but life everlasting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirlee Polanski.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Cecelia Ostrowski Sardini; five children, Jean Fink and her husband Jeff of Girard, Debbie Ahlgren and her husband Richard of TX, Arthur Sardini III and his wife Debbie of Erie, Mary Sardini of Erie, and Cindy Dixon and her husband Bob of Girard; 9 grandchildren, Jennifer Fink, Rick and Kelly and Ashley Ahlgren, Lindsay and AJ Sardini, Nicole Deutsch and Rob and Jeremy Dixon; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Julie Heintzel and her husband Tom of Erie and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church 1626 W. 26th Street, Erie, PA 16506. Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
