Arthur L. Post, age 101, of Fairview, PA and formerly of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Parkside at North East.
He was born in McKean Township, PA on May 29, 1919, a son of the late Fred F. and Daisy VanLuven Post.
He was a 1937 graduate of North East High School. He was a Veteran of WWII serving as a Sargent with the U.S. Army. Arthur was the president and owner of Fitting Lumber Co., retiring in 1989 after 25 years of service. He formerly worked in sales and was a buyer for Hamilton Lumber.
Arthur was active in the South Erie Turners bowling league and a member of Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed boating, fishing and had an interest in old cars. At one time he owned a 1931 Model A.
He was an avid gardener and sports fan following the Cleveland Indians, Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers. He also had an interest in music and was a big fan of the Lawrence Welk Band.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Luella T. Woodard Post in 1974, two sons, Robert C. Post in 1993 and James A. Post in 2017, two daughters-in-law Carol A. Post in 2004 and Cathleen Post in 2008, four sisters, Agnes Green, Gladys Franz, Hazel Drongosky and Dorothy Schoenfeldt, five brothers, Jesse, Clifford, Lloyd, Kenneth and Floyd Post and sisters-in-law, Marie Post and Shirley Post.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Virginia Kurutz of Harborcreek, grandchildren, Robert Post and wife Debra of Fountain City, Indiana, Carolyn Knox of Edinboro, PA, Brian Post and wife Paula of Lawrence Park, and Michelle Stile and her husband, Robert of Lawrence Park, seven great-grandchildren, Andrew Post, Ian Knox, Adam Knox, Joshua Post, Griffin Post, Benjamin Moffett and Olivia Moffett and one great-great grandson, Nolan Post and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross Road, on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. and are invited to attend services there on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend David Edmunds of Elmwood Presbyterian Church officiating.
The service will be livestreamed on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BurtonQuinnScott. All CDC Guidelines including wearing masks, capacity limits and social distancing must be followed.
Private Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
