Arthur J. Baldwin, age 93, of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at his home.
He was born in Erie, on May 26, 1922, the son of the late John Earl and Bertha Sitter Baldwin.
Arthur served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, bringing supplies to our troops thru the European Theater of Ireland, England, France, and Germany. Many times the plane he was in came under fire.
He worked in the foundry at American Sterilizer for 45 years retiring in 1986. He was a hard working provider for his family, working various side jobs, including his own trash hauling business where he taught his 4 sons and daughter the value and satisfaction of hard work.
He was extremely gifted with his hands and had a special affection for automobiles, constantly trading in his cars for “nicer” makes and models.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen E. Wonch Baldwin in 2014; two sisters: Jean Lossie and Katherine Wagner and six brothers: Richard, Charles, John, George, Robert and Donald; and a grandson, Mark Baldwin.
Arthur is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Utstein, of Lake City; four sons: David Baldwin (Lynn) of NY, Lloyd J. Baldwin (Joyce) of Greene Twp., Patrick C. Baldwin and his wife Pam of Bradford, PA, and Jeffrey M. Baldwin (Leota) of Casa Grand, AZ. He is further survived by 11 grandchildren;16 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his “2nd Family”, Joyce and Ron Nichols of CA.
