Arlen C. Fleming, age 79, of Girard, died Thursday, October 18, 2012 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born May 26, 1933, in Clintwood, VA, he was a son of the late Emery and Pall Mullins Fleming. Arlen worked as a coal miner in Virginia and later retired from Cope Vulcan in Lake City. He enjoyed fishing and hunting
In addition to his parents, Arlen was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Sallie M. Caldwell Fleming; daughters Rhonda Henry and her husband Don of Conneautville, Donna Griffin and her husband Robert of Cochraton, and Loretta Hall and her husband Rick of Salem, IN; two sons: James Fleming and his wife Robin of Meadville, and Billie Joe Fleming of Girard; two sisters: Lotta Fay Strouth and her husband Roy of Clintwood, VA and Ida Lou Little and her husband Charles of Paris, TN. Arlen is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Monday from 2pm to 4pm followed by a service in Burton's All Faiths Chapel. Memorials may be made to the family c/o the Burton Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent at www.Burtonfuneralhome.com.
