Anthony Wernicki

May 19, 1942 — June 14, 2016

Anthony Wernicki age 74, of Millcreek passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the VA Medical Center.

He was born in Erie on May 19, 1942 a son of the late Joseph J. and Sophie Yuskiewicz Wernicki.

Anthony graduated from East High School in 1960 and then went on to serve in the United States Airforce from 1960 to 1964. He was a member of the Air Policemen E4.

He then went on to work as a certified welder at AMSCO for 32 years. He was a member of St. Julia Roman Catholic Church.

Anthony enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bocce and was a champion snooker pool player. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his daughters, granddaughters and family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Susan Wernicki in infancy and Patricia A. Wernicki; and two brothers, Peter and Paul Wernicki.

He is survived by two daughters, Lori Wadman and her husband Eric of Hockessin, DE and Cindy Dean and her husband Jon of Elkton, MD; two granddaughters, Erin and Rebecca Wadman; a brother, Michael Wernicki and his wife Nancy of Plant City, FL; a sister Barbara Vahey and her husband John of Erie; five nieces, Donna, Carrie, Mary, Tina, and Julie; four nephews, Jack Bobby, Michael, and Mark; 12 great nieces and nephews; two great great nephews; and a sister in law, Josie Wernicki.

The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses in the Hospice Care of the VA Medical Center for their excellent care and compassion.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at St. Julia Roman Catholic Church, 3750 West Lake Road, Erie, PA 16505 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Tom Alexa Celebrant. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
