Anthony (Nemo) Alecci, age 89, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at the Erie VA Medical Center. He was born January 18, 1935 in Erie the son of Joseph and Rose (Taccone) Alecci.
Nemo served with the US Army during the Korean war from 1954 until 1956. He returned to work in the grocery business and later owned his own supermarket from 1965 until 1994. He was an avid golfer, loved the Cleveland Browns, and the casino. His greatest joy was his family and watching it grow.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son John; brother Leonard, and sister Josephine along with his special friends, Paul and Bob.
Nemo is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Ann (Mariella) Alecci; a son Sal Alecci and his wife Kathy, and a daughter Jean Alecci. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren; Tony Alecci, Megan Rose (Rick), Jennifer Bond (Travis), and Beth Foor (Jeremy) and 3 step grandchildren; John (Amanda), Mandi, and Melissa. Further surviving are 10 great-grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Downtown, 602 W. 10th St. on Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Monday at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am in St. Patrick Catholic church. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, 2500 W.12th St., Erie 16505; The Erie VA Medical Center Hospice program, 135 E.38th St. Erie 16504 or St. Patrick Catholic church, 130 E.4th St. Erie 16507.
