Anne Hantke

Anne M. Hantke, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at her residence in the Lake Shore section of Fairview.

Anne was born in Grabow Mecklenberg, Germany on July 20, 1920, the daughter of George and Anneliese Senff Williams.  The family immigrated to the United States in 1924, and in her early years lived throughout the New York metropolitan area, attending Boonton, NJ High School and marrying Leon Hantke in 1940.  Leon, Anne and their five children moved to Erie in 1960.

Anne worked for many years in the cosmetics department at The Boston Store and Joseph Horne’s.  Leon and Anne were 50-year members of the Lake Shore Country Club, and she was a member of the Lake Shore Garden Club and Bridge Club.  In her later years, she became an avid reader – many books from Lincoln Community Center – and loved regular visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anne enjoyed her Lake Shore home and entertaining guests.

In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; two sons, Robert and James Hantke; a brother, Jack Williams, and a grandson, David Hantke.

Anne is survived by a daughter, Barbara Williams and her husband David of Vienna, VA; two sons, Richard Hantke of Morristown, NJ and Thomas Hantke of South Glastonbury, CT; six grandchildren, Michael Williams and his wife Amy, Allison Pinkham and her husband Justin, Steven Hantke and his wife Casey, and Jennifer, Kevin and Michael Hantke; and six great-grandchildren, Campbell, Kayla, Reid, Tyler, Valerie and Nicole.

Friends may call at Anne’s residence 410 Wedgewood Dr. Erie, PA 16505 on Saturday, May 27^th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
