Anna Jean (Duarte) Shoop, age 84, of Erie passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at UPMC Hamot. Jean was born December 11, 1933 in Oil City, PA the daughter of the late Luis and Wilda Rowland Duarte.
She had worked as an executive secretary at the former Erie Co. Crippled Children’s Home (Achievement Center) and later at Hamot Medical Center. Jean was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Oil City and also had volunteered at the Kid’s Café. She was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed her times spent with her “card club ladies” and very much loved to follow the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Chester W. Shoop, Jr. who died in 2004 along with a brother Lorence Duarte and a sister Kay Graham.
Jean is survived by a son, Michael L. (Lou Baxter) Shoop and his wife Connie of Fairview and a daughter, Robin M. Kunz and her husband Al of Erie. She is the sister of Marion English and her husband Robert of Oil City, PA and the proud grandmother of Tara, Joshua, Adam, Brandon, Jessica, and Kelli. Also surviving are 11 great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. on Sunday from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at which time Funeral Services will be held. Private burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
