Anna L. Craig Schmidt of East Springfield, passed away on October 9, 2023, at Rolling Fields Eldercare Community in Conneautville.
She was born January 12, 1929 in Albion Township, a daughter of the late Ross D. and Pearl Leona Craig.
She had worked at the Girard Model Works for 9 years many years ago. She was a homemaker most of her life and helped her husband on their family farm. She was a 1947 graduate of Albion High.
She attended Federated Church for over 60 years and was active in their Golden Circle and helped in the church kitchen. Anna volunteered for many years at the Springfield Senior Center. She was also a member of the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Corky” Schmidt in 2016; sisters: Betty Schmidt; Mary Devore, Sarah Craig, Marguerite Platz, and Ruth McDonald; a daughter in law, Pearl Schmidt; and her daughter Patricia Lynn Laughlin.
She is survived by three sons, William M. Schmidt of Albion, Samuel R. Schmidt and his wife Renee of E. Springfield, Timothy A. Schmidt and his wife Kristi of E. Springfield; a daughter: Tammy Ann Owens and her husband Mark, of E. Springfield; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home 525 Main Street East, Girard on Thursday from 5 to 8pm and are invited to attend services there Friday at 10am. with Rev. Ed Huntley officiating. Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery.
