Anna Marie Leuschen, age 78, of Millcreek, went peacefully home to her Lord on Thursday August 22, 2013 with her family by her side. She passed away at Select Specialty Hospital following a brief struggle with cancer. She was born on February 24, 1935, daughter of the late Frank Joseph and Anna E. Mayr of Erie.
She graduated from Harborcreek High School Class of 1953 and retired from Loblaws Grocery Store after 44 years as a cashier and in the produce department. She was a member of the Abiding Hope Lutheran Church and did volunteer work at the food pantry. She enjoyed watching the birds and animals from her window, watching figure skating on television, travel and genealogy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Glenn Leuschen; and brothers, Norman Mayr and Frank Mayr.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail Ann Staaf; a son, Glenn Joseph Leuschen; and a granddaughter, Alicia Marie Staaf. Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Ave.) on Monday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 6:00 until 8:00pm. Services will be held at Abiding Hope Lutheran Church, 5312 Peach St, Erie, PA 16509 on Tuesday at 11:30am with Reverend John Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the John Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation 130 West 8th Street Erie, PA 16501.
