Ann Tupek

Ann C. Dunst Tupek, age 95, formerly of Erie died peacefully on Wednesday December 5, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Chagrin Falls, OH.  Born in Erie, July 6, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Anna Grach Dunst. 

She attended St. Benedict Academy and graduated from East High School, Class of 1942.  She was a member of St. Stephen’s R.C.Church and the East Erie Turners.  Mrs. Tupek was employed at the Burton Funeral Home from 1980 until 2006, and had been formerly employed at the Hammermill Paper Company.

She served for many years as a volunteer at the Sarah Reed Retirement Center. Annie enjoyed being around family and children.  She raised nine children on her own after the death of her husband in 1977.  She continued to care for children until her 80s.

Survivors include four daughters: Mrs. Christine (Jerry) Martin of Erie, Mrs. Yvonne (Richard) Wilt of Pittsburgh, PA, Mrs. MaryAnn (Sean) Osterberg of Chagrin Falls and Colleen (Robert) Jennings of Erie; a son Daniel (Beth) Tupek of Fairview; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She is further survived by two sisters Mrs. Peggy White of Debary, FL and Mrs. Rosemary Jeschke of Palm Harbor, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Tupek was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Tupek, Sr.; three daughters: Diane Elaine Tupek, JoAnn Clinger and Kathleen Gaerttner;  two sons Joseph Tupek, Jr. and Mark Tupek; a grandson Christopher Clinger; three brothers: Raymond, Albert, and Larry Dunst and a sister Mary Elaine Bailey.

Friends may call at Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave.), on Sunday Dec. 9^th from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm, and are invited to prayers at the funeral home on Monday at 10:15am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stephen’s R.C. Church, 1237 West 21^st Street at 11am, with Reverend Jorge Villegas officiating.  Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
