Ann Williams Lux, 81, of Kissimmee, Florida, and formerly of Erie, died following a long illness on Dec. 18, 2021, at her home with family at her side.
Ann was born in Erie on May 10, 1940, a daughter of the late Rogers and Ann Burke Williams.
She graduated from Villa Maria Academy in 1958 and received a degree in education from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Ann went on to enjoy an award-winning 30-year career at the Erie School District, where she taught at Emerson, Perry and Irving elementary schools. She taught kindergarten at Irving when she retired, in 1992. Ann moved to Kissimmee after her retirement.
She was a member of the Erie Education Association, the Pennsylvania State Education Association and a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and Holy Redeemer Catholic Women's Association, both in Kissimmee. In Erie, Ann was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.
Ann was an avid tennis player who liked watching Wimbledon, the U.S. Open and other tournaments on television with her husband Richard "Dick" Lux, with whom she played tennis daily in their younger years. Ann and Dick were married in Erie on Feb. 24, 1992.
Ann enjoyed cooking and treating family and guests alike to gourmet meals, with steak as her specialty. She compiled the family cookbook.
She was a dedicated aunt who made keeping up with her nieces and nephews part of her daily routine. Ann never forgot a birthday or a holiday.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Lux, in 2015, and a brother, Kevin Williams, of Honolulu, Hawaii, in 2020.
She is survived by a brother, Rogers Patrick Williams, and his wife, Pamela, of Seaside, California; sisters Patricia Palattella, of Catonsville, Maryland, Mary B. Snyder, of Honolulu, and Evelyn Wesman and her husband, Gary, of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to a Memorial Mass on Saturday May 14th at 10:00 am in St. Andrew’s Church, 1116 W. 7th St. Erie. Inurnment to follow at Erie Cemetery.
