Anita Robson

October 27, 1927 — October 9, 2023

Anita Evanoff Robson, age 95, passed away Monday, October 9, 2023 at her daughter’s home in Felton, PA . Anita Robson lived for more than 60 years at her home on Old Sterrettania Rd. in Millcreek, where she prided herself on her many blueberry bushes.

Anita Robson was born on October 27, 1927 and lived nearly her whole life in the Erie area. She was the tenth child of Lavrenty and Agrippina Evanoff, from Russian-Lithuania. She was married to the late Joe Brooks Robson from July 1949 until his death in 2005. A graduate of East High School, she worked for Robeson Process, Millcreek School District, and spent many years as an overnight babysitter. Generations of children will remember “Baba” for her gentle ways and blueberry pancakes.

She was a supporter of Millcreek schools including PTA, football boosters, and the McDowell Marching Band. She supported Boy Scout troops 39 and 122. She almost never missed her grandchildren’s sporting events, who will also remember her playing endless games of Sorry and Philadelphia Rummy.

A lifelong member of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Nativity, she loved to attend services. She was a stalwart “baking lady” at the church, remembered for her early-morning trips to start the dough. She also travelled with the church, including trips to the Holy Land and Russia.

She began her journey of weight loss at TOPS No. 0056, serving the group as Leader, Area Coordinator, and was instrumental in the growth of the club. She was a KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) for more than fifty continuous years, for which she was often celebrated at TOPS regional and international conventions.

She leaves behind four grieving children and their spouses: Joe Walton Robson and his wife Esther ; Joy Anne Rectenwald and her husband Ross; Laura Marie Carniewski; and Roy Raymond Robson and his wife Kim. She was Baba to eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, including the youngest at six months old who bears the middle name, Anita. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her nine siblings, her husband, and her son-in-law, Gregory Paul Carniewski.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the Russian Orthodox Church of the Nativity, 251 E. Front St. from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm and are invited to attend Funeral Services there Monday at 10:00 am. Burial will be in St. John the Divine Cemetery
