Anita Kondrat

May 21, 1923 — September 13, 2017

Anita "Ann" Gallant Kondrat passed from this life into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, September 13th, 2017. Preceded in death by husband Frank A. Kondrat and daughter Patricia.  Born May 21st, 1923, Ann was the youngest daughter of Amelia Gumienik Gallant and John Gallant. The last  surviving child of 10 children, she was preceded in death by sisters Alexandra, Jaye Kunkel and Virginia Bonaminio, and by brothers Zygmund, Andrew, Harry, Edward, John Jr. and Steve Gallant.

A first generation American born of Polish immigrant parents, she was affectionately known to extended family and friends as Mom, Gramma, Great Gramma, Aunt Annie, to her husband as "honey" and to her brothers as "the Pie Baker".  A survivor of adversity, she grew up during the depression, made her way through WWII working at Bliley Electric. After marrying her Frank, the couple lived in New York City for a brief time before returning "home" with husband and baby Patty, to her family in Pennsylvania where she spent the remainder of her life.

Kind, loving, creative and hardworking, she was always there to lend a hand. Ann was the kind of person you loved in your life and were all the better for having known her. She touched many lives. Always busy and never having "time for a hobby" she was the best baker and gardener you ever met. She was always delighted to share her baked goods and we all looked forward to them. Known for her optimism and as a determined go-getter, it was not unusual to see her during her last year rolling down the halls of Elmwood Gardens in a hurry to get somewhere only she knew about.

She raised 4 children, Patricia, Gregg Kondrat of Waterford, Nancy Fioretti and Karen Kondrat of Erie, with a firm hand and a never-give-up attitude. She is survived by two grandsons including Greg of Erie, Great -grandchildren  Will Schmid and Greg Schmid of Erie and Jason Kondrat and Jenna Kondrat of Mill Village. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorials contributions may be designated to the family through the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, Erie, PA 16502.
