Angie Martin Busbee, age 81, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2013 in Erie, PA.
She was born on July 5, 1931 to the late Charles and Ora (Ramsey) Martin of Gretna, VA.
Angie graduated from Gretna High School in Gretna, VA and then attended Radford College (Women's Division of Virginia Polytechnic Institute) with a major of biology and chemistry. She also completed coursework at American University and George Washington University. She worked as Chief Hematologist at Alexandria Hospital, Alexandria, VA and proceeded to become the Laboratory Manager for Thermoclad Plastics Company, Erie, PA, where she worked for 25 years until she retired.
While working full time, she raised five children and was very involved in volunteer activities. She was an active volunteer for the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and a long-standing member and volunteer for the Women of the Moose. Angie was a dedicated member of the Republican Party and served as the Tri-Community Chairperson, Secretary to the Erie County Republican party, and the advisor for the Teenage Republicans (T.A.R.S.).
She is preceded in death by her husband, Willis U. Busbee, and her daughter, Myra L. Busbee.
Angie is survived by daughter, Florence Shuss and husband, Mark; son, Charles Busbee and wife, Lisa; son, Willis Busbee; daughter, Angie Angus and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Caitlin and David Busbee, and Cameron and Elizabeth Angus; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a multitude of friends.
Angie will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, putting other's needs before her own, and her sense of humor. Above all, she was extremely devoted and loving to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
The family invites friends to attend a celebration of her life on Saturday, February 16, at 1 p.m. at St. Barnabus Chapel, Brevillier Village, 5416 East Lake Road, Erie, PA. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation 130 W 8th St Erie, PA 16501or the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department 4896 E Lake Rd Erie, PA 16511.
