Andreas Nickolaos Zafiropoulos II, age 60, of Erie, PA departed this life on Sunday, August 18, 2024. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 26, 1963, son of the late Fayetta Garner Zafiropoulos and Andreas Nickolaos Zafiropoulos Sr. 

Andy graduated from Cathedral Preparatory High School, 1981, Northwest Pennsylvania Technical Institute, Paramedic/Fire Science, 1992, and Edinboro University, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, magna cum laude, 2006. Activities and societies: Valedictorian, Delta Mu Delta, Alpha Kappa Psi. 

He was instrumental in forming and organizing Millcreek Paramedic Service from its inception serving as Chief Paramedic and as their first Executive Director. He served 20 years in the West Lake Fire Department where he was an Assistant Chief and retired as an honorary member. 

Andy worked 33 years in his family’s business, Zemenco, Inc. where he wore many hats and filled several roles including Vice President. In keeping with tradition, in 2010, he established his family owned and operated business, Feather Ridge Services. 

As a small child, he lived in Zemeno, Corinthia, Peloponnese, Greece where his father worked for the Greek Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture. The family returned to the United States after the Greek military junta in 1967. They maintained their family home in Greece and traveled back many times in the years following. 

Andy loved spending time with his family, camping, traveling, walking at Presque Isle, and volunteering. He had a good time in the hot dog tent during the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church Festival (Panegyri). He loved mentoring the next generation and helping anyone that needed it. He has been a treasured husband, father, and brother and is missed profoundly.

He was a Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack #104 and a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #109, volunteer laborer for Habitat for Humanity and was a Pennsylvania Forestry Association Steward. 

Andy was the owner of a 1982 Jeep Jamboree that he purchased that same year. In the summers, he could be seen driving with top off and jamming to the Beach Boys. 

Andy is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth (Betsy) Brown Zafiropoulos, and their son, Andreas Nickolaos Zafiropoulos III (Sarah Kendra). He is further survived by his sister, Maria Nicole Zafiropoulos Saunders (Mike), and his nieces and nephews, Alex, Sophia, Justin, Laura, Catherine, Joseph, Theresa, James, Jennifer, Daniel, Kendall and Camryn. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Olivia Anne. 

Friends are invited to call on the family at Burton Quinn Scott Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 West 26th Street, Erie, Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, August 22, from 12:00 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to the West Lake Fire Department or the Presque Isle Partnership.
