Andre Marchal

Andre Gustave Marchal age 87, of Erie, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital surrounded by his loving children.

He was born in Namur Belgium on April 10, 1934, a son of the late Jean-Marie and Helene Neuville Marchal.

Andre was a 1953 graduate of Cathedral Prep and went on to receive his bachelors of Science degree in Engineering from Gannon College in 1969.

Andre began his career working at General Electric as a draftsman during college and remained at G.E., holding many engineering positions until he retired in 1994. He also worked as an engineer for RD&D and continued on as a consultant after he retired.

Andre was a member of St. Julia Parish.

Andre enjoyed traveling during his retirement and took many trips with his wife and family. He was a member of the French Club, played poker with his friends, was an avid newspaper reader including solving the daily puzzles, and spent many years going to Nautilus Fitness and Racquetball Club.

In addition to his parents, Andre was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise (Simbeck) Marchal; an infant son, Patrick Marchal; a sister, Janine Florek and a brother, Francis Marchal.

He is survived by a son, Francis Marchal and his wife Mary Lynne (Sivak) of Shippensburg, PA; three daughters; Mary (Marchal) Till and her husband Mark, Christine (Marchal) Gammon, and Sharon (Marchal) Burgert and her husband John all of Erie; nine grandchildren; Frankie and Matt Marchal, and Kristy Stauffer, Jeffrey, Jessica and Sarah Till, Emily Burkett and Gerry Gammon and Alyson Burgert; and three great grandchildren, Isabelle, Little Frankie and Will.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services 3801 W. 26th Street, on Friday from 2 until 7p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Saturday, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julia Church, 638 Roslyn Avenue, at 10 a.m. with Msgr. Bruce Allison officiating.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
