Amelia E. Bava Zamaria age 94, of Erie, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Millcreek Community Hospital.
She was born in Bethlehem, PA on June 19, 1919, a daughter of the late Pasquale and Theresa Pugliese Bava.
She graduated from St. Benedict’s Academy.
Amelia was known as a great Italian cook and also liked to bake and enjoyed gardening. The most important thing to her was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly called her “Nana”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Nick Zamaria; a brother, John “Jack” Bava and a sister, Mary Cassano.
She is survived by a daughter, Dolores (Joseph) DePaul and; four granddaughters, Chermaine (Dan) Wykoff, Dineen Leone (Brad Kern), Josette (Tim) Fiorenzo, and Marisa (Mark) Pavlov; and eight great grandchildren, Jessica Colvin, Brandon Leone, Christopher Leone, Trevor Colvin, Nick Pavlov, Chloe Pavlov, Niko Fiorenzo and Bella Fiorenzo. She is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Monday at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Mike Polinek officiating.
Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
