Amato John Mannarelli, age 85, of Erie, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at St. Vincent Health Center.
Born in Erie on December 29, 1930, the son of the late Frank L., Sr. and Ruth English Mannarelli. Amato lived with Ray and Sue Zapolski who were his providers for the last 20 years, initially thorough Lakeshore Community Services and for the last 4 through a LifeSharing program at Erie Homes for Children and Adults (EHCA).
Amato enjoyed being a part of the Zapolski family and participating in all of the family activities. He especially liked going out to eat, attending cookouts, going to church, shopping and going for walks and fishing. Amato loved to watch old Western movies and enjoyed having coffee and spending time with Mary Hanes, the provider’s mother, and their son, Brandon. He also loved to be out in the community spending time at the peninsula, shooting pool at the Senior Center and volunteering at Sarah Reed for the bingo games. Amato looked forward to his monthly lunch meetings with his sister, Thomasina.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Lombardo, of Erie, PA and Anita Fioritto, of Cleveland, OH.
Survivors include his sisters, Thomasina Chervenka and Dora Mannarelli, of Erie. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street on Wednesday, from 10:00 am until the time of service there at 12:00 pm. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
