Alton Johnson

Alton Albert Johnson age 90, of Erie and formerly of Clymer NY and Marion, OH passed away peacefully Thursday, December 31, 2015 at West Lake Woods.

He was born in Amity, PA on March 1, 1925, a son of the late C. Perry and Francis Kimmy Johnson.

He graduated from Wattsburg High School and went on the serve in the United States Army in the

European African Middle Eastern Theater, during WWII, receiving a Purple Heart for his service.

Al retired from Whirlpool as a layout technician in Marion Ohio. He was an avid bowler his whole life and had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Corry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Cleo Johnson and a brother, Thelbert

D. Johnson.

He is survived by his wife Sadie Betty Shinko Johnson, two step daughters: Debbie Gold and her husband Ned of Warren, OH; Janni Cooper and her husband Denis of Sherman, NY; and a step son Mark Bemis and his wife Val of Sherman, NY; 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Also a nephew and niece Jeff and Peg Danner of Marion, OH.

A graveside service will be held a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th St. Erie.
