Alphonse James Traversy age 72, of Erie died quietly at home on Saturday, September 27, 2014.
He was born on December 16, 1942 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Alphonse and Neva Bindle Traversy.
Al was one of a handful of people from Erie to attend Woodstock in 1969.
He was a machinist and enjoyed exploring his American Indian heritage. He was also a great “Elvis” fan and an accomplished pool player and loved motorcycles as well as the Pittsburg Steelers and NASCAR.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by a brother, Robert A. Traversy.
He is survived by his lifetime best friend, Eleanor Steinbaugh along with two nephews; Mark A. Traversy of El Paso, TX and Steve A. Traversy of Las Cruces, NM. He also leaves a niece, Monique Way of Ft. Belvoir, VA and many other good friends all of whom are invited to Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, Pa. 16502 on Thursday from 1:00 pm till the time of a memorial service there at 3:00 pm.
