Alice Peightal

Alice Richards Peightal, age 90, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in Hollidaysburg, PA on June 27, 1924, a daughter of the late Thomas and Regina Farren Richards.

She was a 1942 graduate of Philipsburg Osceola High School and a 1945 graduate of St. Josephs Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

Alice worked as a nurse for 29 years retiring from Hamot Medical Center. She was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Wesleyville, the Hamot Retirees Organization, the PA Nurses Association and volunteered at the Ridge Center and Camp Glinodo. She also served as an Oblate which is associated with the Benedictine Sisterhood. She was a distributor of Mona - Vie Nutritional Health Supplement, which connected her with people from far and away. Alice also enjoyed playing tennis, loved to travel and her life was centered around her family. She was a huge Penn State Football Fan and went to most every home game.

Mrs. Peightal was preceded in death by her husband Preston Peightal and a brother James Richards.

She is survived by a daughter, Norma Buchanan and her husband Glenn; three sons, Michael Peightal and his former wife Bonnie, Kent Peightal and his wife Deborah, and Mark Peightal and his companion Sandy, all of Erie; and nine grandchildren: Alexander Peightal, Cortney, Ashley, Meghan and Victoria Buchanan, Devon, Farren, Brian and Amie Peightal. She is further survived by nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th St. Erie on Saturday from 2-4 and Sunday from 1-4 and 6-8pm. and are invited to attend prayers there on Monday at 11am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Roman Catholic Church, at 11:45am with the Reverend James McCormick officiating.

Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
