Alice Krack

June 19, 1919 — July 8, 2015

     Alice V. Huff Krack, 96, formerly of Pacific Ave., died Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Elmwood Gardens.  She was born June 19, 1919, in Erie, PA, daughter of the late William W. and Elizabeth Strouse Huff.  Mrs. Krack graduated from Academy High School in 1937 and from Lankenau Hospital Nursing Program in Philadelphia, PA, in 1940.  She worked for Dr. L. Lasher, Hamot Medical Center, Sarah Reed Retirement Center and most recently Alpine Manor Nursing Home, retiring in 1982.  She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Salvation Army Senior Citizens, Asbury Church's Senior Citizens Group, Westminster Presbyterian Church's CHOSEN Mission Group, Siebenbuerger Ladies Auxiliary and Lutheran Home Volunteer Auxiliary, and was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed knitting, baking, canning and traveling, and most of all, spending time with her family.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Elmer J. Krack in 1996; two daughters, Carol Elaine Krack and Susan Lloyd; three sisters, Esther Beamer, Verna Weir and Lydia Krack; and two brothers, William and Harold "Tim" Huff.
     Survivors include four sons, John Krack and wife Carrie of Fridley, MN, David Krack and wife Martha of Irvine, PA, James Krack and wife Barbara of Irwin, PA, and Robert Krack of Minneapolis, MN; a daughter, Elizabeth Durkin Gutting and husband Gregory of Erie, PA; two sisters, Olive Pifer and Elaine Sturtevant and husband Claude, both of Erie; eight grandchildren, David J. Krack and wife Lisa of Butler, PA, Timothy Krack and wife Julie of Salisbury, NC, Kimberly Linden of Bradford, PA, Jennifer Pennington of Pittsburgh, PA, Holli Reed and husband Jason of Greensburg, PA, Dr. Angela Durkin of St. Petersburg, FL, Evan Durkin and wife Aimee of Greece, NY, and Andrea Gutting Mumford and husband Daniel of Shippensburg, PA; six great-grandchildren; a dear friend, Catherine Zimmerman; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
     A special thank you to Dr. Ronald Leemhuis, and also to the staff at Elmwood Gardens, for the wonderful care and support they provided to Alice.
     Friends may call Friday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, and may attend a service there Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kristen Papson of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church officiating.  Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elmwood Gardens, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church or L'Arche of Erie.
