Alice Pettigrew Abbott age 83, of Fairview passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at her residence, surrounded by her family.
She was born November 24, 1938 in Portsmouth, VA a daughter of the late McLeon and Nora Land Riggan.
Alice worked as an assembler for Spectrum for over 25 years. She was a collector of antiques, a baker extraordinaire, a champion of the underdog, and later in life learned to handcraft baskets.
Her family meant the world to her. Alice had the biggest heart, she loved all children, even those who weren’t her own and treated everyone like family. Her love for her own children and grandchildren was immeasurable. She excelled at making those around her laugh. She was one of the strongest women ever, strong willed and strong in her faith. At age 57 she began competing in powerlifting and held the deadlift title in her age group. We love you Mom, a bushel and a peck.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her favorite son in law, Tim Rocco; two grandsons, Matthew and Jamie Pettigrew; three sisters, Marion Williams; Frankie Berman, and Nancy Pickett; and her first husband Dhurword Pettigrew.
