Alene Bricker Barnes

Alene Balderson Bricker Barnes, 74, of Fairview, passed away on January 11, 2021, at Manchester Commons.

Alene was born in Weiser, ID, on April 18, 1946 to the late Robert and Ruth (Jungmeyer) Balderson.  She was a graduate of Cortland High School (NE) and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  After moving to the Erie area, she worked at The Heir Shoppe, Joann Fabrics, O’Leary Dental Group, Town Line Hardware and Barnes Mobile Lunch.  She was a former member of St. Peter’s Cathedral, and Lake Shore Country Club where she played on the ladies 9-hole golf league.  She was a talented seamstress and needleworker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward G. Bricker, Jr.; her second husband, Leon Barnes; and her twin sister, Alice Filbert.

Survivors include her children, Anne Lane (Scott) of Highlands Ranch, CO; and Edward Bricker of Aurora, CO; three grandchildren: Carter, Ryan and Georgia Lane, all of Highlands Ranch, CO; stepmother Elaine Balderson of Weiser, ID; sisters: Carol Ann Stoddard of Monroe, WA; Cathy Sullivan (Pat) of Weiser, ID; and Christy Wise (Mike) of Helena, MT; sister-in-law Melanie Bricker (Tom Fetzer) of Franklinville, NY; brother-in-law David Filbert of Lincoln, NE; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staffs of AseraCare Hospice and Manchester Commons for the excellent care Alene received the last few months of her life.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions, services were held private to the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Burton Quinn Scott West Ridge Cremation and Funeral Services, 3801 West 26^th St. Erie.
