Alberta Hookey

Alberta “Bertie” Hookey, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at St Vincent Hospital.

She was born in Fairmount City, Pennsylvania, on January 21, 1933, a daughter of the late Theodore Dean and Esther Bowser Dean Yurchisin.

Bertie was a graduate of Harborcreek High School, Class of 1951.

She retired from the finishing room at Hammermill Paper Company; where she had been employed since 1953. She was a member of the First Church of God.

Alberta was preceded in death by her husband Alvin E. Hookey, in 1991; three brothers, Albert Dean, Ellwood Bish, and Walter Bish; an aunt and uncle, Warren and Florence Bish, with whom she made her home while growing up; a nephew, Edward Bish; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Bish and a nephew-in-law, Fred Baginski.

She is survived by a brother John Yurchisin (Joyce), of Sharon, PA; nieces and nephews, Walter Paul Bish (Jeannette), Linda (Ted) Lombardo, Judy Baginski, Melissa Corey (Rick Lombardo), Mark Bish and Randy Bish (Cari Rodgers); a daughter, Frani Solymosi and a good friend, Nina Wysocki.

Friends may call on the family at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26^th. Street on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
