Albert Straub

Albert F. Straub age 65, of Erie, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at UPMC Hamot.

He was born in Erie on July 27, 1947, a son of the late Albert J. and Lillian Metz Straub.

Albert graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1966 and then went on to serve in the United States Navy. After the service, he worked for many years as the parts manager for Poplar White Truck and Poplar Thruway Service.

Albert was a lifetime member of the Siebenbuerger club. He was an avid golfer who also enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved spending time at Presque Isle.

Albert will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt Virginia "Dee Dee" Karle and her husband Frank.

Albert is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon Shatzer Straub; a daughter, Sandy Ferguson and her husband Jim; two sons, Dave Straub and his wife Jeannie and Douglas Straub and his wife Karen; seven grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Straub, a sister, Carol Dawley and her husband Dennis and a cousin who was like a brother, Francis Karle and his wife Kay. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m and 6 to 8 p.m and are invited to attend a service there on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be private in Laurel Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
