Alan Mark Johnson, 64, of Waterford, died on Friday, November 2, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born on August 9, 1954, in Erie, Pa, son of Marjorie A. Wernicki Johnson and the late Harry Wallace Johnson. A 1972 graduate of Wattsburg High School, he worked at Firch Baking Co. for one year before moving to General Electric, where he worked as a machinist, sheet metal fabricator, and assembler for 36 years, retiring in December 2009. He loved his family and was always happiest while spending time with them. Mr. Johnson was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a special connection to nature and enjoyed every moment spent there. Mr. Johnson was a member of Luther Memorial Church and SVEA Lodge, No. 296, VASA Order of America, and was also a longtime Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He was preceded in death by his father in 2014.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Lorraine Voorhis Johnson; his mother, Marjorie A. Wernicki Johnson of Erie; two children, Christine Marie Denelsbeck (Edward) of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Paul Alan Johnson (Kendal) of Forest, Va.; two brothers, John Johnson (Brenda) and Russell Johnson (Sherie) of Erie; six grandchildren, Margaret, Penelope and Edward Denelsbeck of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Gabriel, Adrian and Samuel Johnson of Forest, Va.; and several nieces, nephews, and special cousins including Michael Mazanowski, and his longtime friend Kevin Ferrie.
Friends may call Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street. A service will be held at Luther Memorial Church, 225 West 10th Street, Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Coleman officiating. Burial will be at New Waterford Cemetery, Old State Road, Waterford, Pa. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
